I pledge obnoxious

Hey jackass: every country has loyalty oaths and pledges of obedience. America is the country where you can choose not to make them, or even mock them. If you berate people into doing it, what meaning does it have? It amazes me that people don't see how the value of such statements is inversely proportional to the degree of coercion involved in making them happen. It's like forcing high school students to volunteer and calling it "community service".
